So at the Music City Best Competition Saturday, there were many great robots, but Merrol Hyde's stood out. A lot. I noticed that their arm for the claw was telescoping, how was that achieved? As in how would a telescoping arm work?

The usual telescoping arms I have seen use the IGUS C channel track with either the two pieces nested inside each other, or using the provided track glides;
or Small/Large PVC pipe.   Velcro as a rack and pinion for expansion, or the usual string drum, curtain slider mechanism.
